    2. To do with a university, college or academy.
    3. Theoretical rather than practical.

    4. Of no practical importance, eg because impossible or unreal.
      Example: What we would do with a car is quite academic, since we can't afford one
    5. Said of a person: fond of or having an aptitude for intellectual pursuits.
