    1. Something regarded in terms of its similarity or parallelism to something else.
    2. biol.
      Any organ or part of an animal or plant that is similar in function, though not in origin, to an organ or part in a different organism.
    3. chem.
      A chemical compound, especially a drug, that differs slightly in structure and properties from its parent compound, and is often used because it has fewer side-effects, is more potent, etc.

    1. Said of a device or physical quantity: changing continuously rather than in a series of discrete steps, and therefore capable of being represented by an electric voltage. Compare digital.
