Celsius scale
noun
    1. A scale of temperature, formerly known as the centigrade scale, in which the freezing point of water is 0°C and its boiling point is 100°C, with the temperature range between these fixed points being divided into 100 degrees.
Etymology: 18c: named after Anders Celsius (1701‐44), a Swedish astronomer and the inventor of the centigrade thermometer.
