    2. The parts of the world that have reached such a stage.
    3. The state of having achieved or the process of achieving such a stage.

      A people and their society and culture.
      Example: the Minoan civilization
    5. Built-up areas as opposed to wild, uncultivated or sparsely populated parts.
    6. Intellectual or spiritual enlightenment, as opposed to brutishness or coarseness.
