    1. To provide support for the truth or validity of something.
      Example: refused to confirm or deny the rumour
      Thesaurus: prove, verify, substantiate, validate, authenticate; strengthen, support, augment, corroborate.
    2. To finalize or make definite (a booking, arrangement etc).
    3. Said of an opinion, etc: to strengthen it or become more convinced in it.
    4. To give formal approval to something; to establish officially.
      Example: His appointment was confirmed at the interview

    5. Christianity.
      To accept someone formally into full membership of the Church.
