In the UK: a political party on the right of the political spectrum, whose policies include support of established customs and institutions, opposition to socialism, a commitment to privatization, an emphasis on traditional family values and the advocation of free enterprise. Also called Conservative and Unionist Party. See also Tory.
2. In other countries: any of various right-leaning political parties.
