      Thesaurus: complement, supplement, correlative, fellow, mate, match, twin.
    2. A person or thing which is not exactly the same as another, but which is equivalent to it in a different place or context.
      Example: The Russian ambassador triumphed at the conference, but her counterpart at the UN was not quite so successful
