    1. A son or daughter of one's uncle or aunt. Also called first cousin or cousin-german. Compare second cousin.
    2. Something kindred, especially a race or nation.
      Example: We'd like to welcome our American cousins
    3. A form of address used by a sovereign when addressing another.
Etymology: 13c: from French cosin, from Latin consobrinus cousin on the mother's side.
