crisis management
noun
    1. The practice of dealing with crises as they arise and not by any long-term strategic planning.
Etymology: 1960s: the term was first used after the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 and implies that because the actions of others cannot always be predicted or planned for, crises have to be dealt with when they happen.
