    1. Not original; derived from or copying something else (especially someone else's work).
      Thesaurus: imitative, plagiarized, procured, regurgitated, copied, rehashed, borrowed, second-hand, unoriginal, daughter; Antonym: original.

    1. Something which is derived from something else.
    2. grammar.
      A word formed by adding one or more affixes to another word, such as happily from happy, decarbonize from carbon. Compare compound1 (noun 3).

      A compound, usually organic, that is made from another compound.
