      Any plant of the genus that includes the foxglove.
    2. medicine.
      A collective term for drugs acting on the heart, originally obtained from the dried leaves of the foxglove, that stimulate the heart muscle by increasing contractions. They are used to treat heart failure and other cardiac disorders.
Etymology: 17c, originally as the Latin genus name of the foxglove.
