    1. An aromatic (adj 2), halogenated (see halogenate) hydrocarbon that is highly toxic and produced as a by-product in the manufacture of the herbicide 2,4,5-T, a tox defoliant (Agent Orange), and which has been associated with allergic skin reactions, cancer, birth defects and miscarriages.
