    1. A religious festival celebrating the resurrection of Christ, held on the Sunday after the first full moon in spring.

      Form: Easter Sunday
    2. The period during which the festival takes place, thought of as running from Good Friday to the following Monday, called Easter Monday.
Etymology: Anglo-Saxon eastre, perhaps from Eostre, the name of a goddess associated with spring.
