    1. A lift (noun 4).
    2. A person or thing that elevates.
    (chiefly N Amer, especially US)
    3. A tall building in which grain is stored.
    4. A lift or machine for transporting goods to a higher level, eg bales up into a barn or corn up into a store, etc.
    5. aeronautics.
      A movable control surface or surfaces at the tail of an aeroplane, by which it is made to climb and dive.
    6. anatomy.
      A muscle which lifts part of the body.
