      An expression that indicates one or more equal parts of a whole, usually represented by a pair of numbers separated by a horizontal or diagonal line, where the upper number (the numerator) represents the number of parts selected and the lower number (the denominator) the total number of parts. Compare integer.
    2. A portion; a small part of something.
