macabre
adj
    1. Connected, or to do with, death in some way.
    2. Causing fear or anxiety; ghastly; gruesome.
Thesaurus: grim, horrible, ghastly, grisly, sick, eerie, gruesome, ghoulish.
Etymology: 15c: from French danse macabre dance of Death; the earlier form macabré may be a corruption of Macabé, probably referring to Judas Maccabeus or his family the Maccabees, whose massacre is said to have been re-enacted in medieval drama.
