    1. photog.
      A flat sheet of film of a size suitable for filing, with printed text on it that has been photographically reduced, used for storing library catalogues, newspaper texts, etc, especially before the widespread introduction of electronic databases and CD-ROMs. Often shortened to fiche.
Etymology: 1950s: from French fiche a sheet of paper.
