      A measure of the extent to which an image of an object produced by a lens or optical instrument is enlarged or reduced. Also called power (noun 15).
      Example: enlarged by a magnification of seven
    2. An appearance enlarged, especially by a stated amount.
    3. An enlarged copy of something.
      Example: The police studied a magnification of the photo
    4. The action or an instance of magnifying (in any sense).
