    1. medicine.
      The expulsion of a fetus from the uterus before it is capable of independent survival, ie at any time up to about the 24th week of pregnancy. Also called spontaneous abortion.
    2a. An act or instance of failure or error;
      Thesaurus: failure, fiasco, breakdown, malfunction, error, mistake, mishap, defeat, collapse; Antonym: success.
    2b. Failure of a plan, etc to reach a desired objective;
    2c. Failure of goods, etc to reach a desired destination.
