musk
noun
    1. A strong-smelling substance much used in perfumes, secreted by the glands of various animals, especially the male musk deer.
    2. Any similar synthetic substance.
    3. The smell of such substances.
    4. Having or producing musk, or a scent of or like musk.
      Example: musk gland
      Example: musk orchid
Etymology: 14c: from French musc, from Latin muscus, perhaps from Sanskrit muska testicle or scrotum, because of the resemblance of the deer's musk gland in its sac to this.
