    1b. One of a pair of bags carried on either side of the wheel of a bicycle, etc.

      A system of hoops used for speading out a woman's dress at the hips;
    2b. historical
      A tucked-up arrangement of fabric on either side of a woman's skirt.
Etymology: 13c, originally referring to a large basket for carrying food: from French panier, from Latin panarium bread basket.
