    1. weaving.
      The device that carries the horizontal thread (the weft) backwards and forwards between the vertical threads (the warp).
    2. The device that carries the lower thread through the loop formed by the upper in a sewing-machine.
    3. Anything that makes a similar movement.
    4. A rapid backwards-and-forwards movement between two points.
    5. An aircraft, train or bus that runs a frequent service between two places, usually at a relatively short distance from one another.
    6. A shuttlecock.
