spaghetti western
noun
    1. A type of film, such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, typically quite violent, which, although its subject is the American wild west, is shot in Europe, usually in Italy or Spain, where overheads are smaller than in Hollywood, and which is usually filmed in widescreen with huge panoramic vistas, often having an international cast headed by an Italian director.
Etymology: 1960s: so called because of the Italian connections of location and the nationality of the directors.
