- Said of a verb: taking a direct object, eg They make lots of money. Compare intransitive, absolute.
- Having the property whereby if there is a relation between item one and item two and the same relation is discernible between item two and item three, then there must be the same relation between item one and item three, eg if a = b and b = c, then a = c.
