    1. A trembling effect achieved by rapidly repeating a note or notes, or by quickly alternating notes, eg on a stringed instrument, organ, etc.
    2. A similar effect in singing.
    3a. A device in an organ that can be used for producing a tremolo or a vibrato;

    3b. The lever on an electric guitar that can be used to produce this effect. Compare vibrato.
